Tear trough

The tear trough, also known as the tear groove, marks the area below the lower row of eyelashes, which runs in an arc from the inner corner of the eye outward toward the outer eyelid margin. As we age, we lose volume there, appearing empty and tired, often accompanied by an unsightly bluish discoloration. This volume deficit can be compensated for with a gentle injection of hyaluronic acid. Precise anatomical knowledge is essential in this area; the product must be precisely placed and administered in very small amounts to achieve a natural result.

When it comes to the lower eyelid, it's crucial to determine the underlying problem. If volume loss is due to aging and the lower eyelid structures are sagging, hyaluronic acid is the right approach. If the problem is bluish discoloration of the eye that shows through the extremely thin skin of the lower eyelid, hyaluronic acid won't help. PRP or mesotherapy with light preparations are more effective in this case.

In the case of swelling on the lower eyelid, the so-called puffy eyes or malar bags, small fatty bodies push through gaps in the fascia. In this case, neither PRP nor hyaluronic acid can help. In this case, minor findings can be significantly improved through lymphatic drainage. In severe cases, the fatty body can be broken down gently but sustainably using an endolift.
