A medical brow lift is a surgical procedure to permanently raise the eyebrow position by correcting the underlying muscles and skin. In contrast, a cosmetic brow lift (lamination) is merely a temporary hairstyling treatment that fixes the structure of the brow hairs for a few weeks. While cosmetic treatments only alter the appearance of the hairs, surgery corrects the anatomical cause of a tired look or drooping brows.
You and your surgeon will discuss your goals and jointly assess your brow height, forehead activity, skin quality, and upper eyelid skin. We will show you the anticipated lift in the mirror, explain the possible techniques (indirect via the hairline vs. direct near the brow), and clarify the incision procedure, aftercare, and realistic results. Together, we will determine whether combining the procedure with an upper eyelid lift is advisable.
1) Indirect brow lift (access points in the hair / hairline)
2) Direct brow lift (cut close to the brow)
Regardless of the method used, the deeper supporting structures are gently released, repositioned, and securely fixed. The skin is closed with minimal tension. We individually adjust the brow shape and lifting vector to ensure that facial expressions and features remain natural.
You will leave the clinic on the same day or after a short observation period. For the first 72 hours, apply cold compresses regularly and keep your head elevated. Depending on the dressing, you may gently wash your hair frequently after 24–48 hours. We usually remove sutures after 10–14 days. Mild residual swelling or tenderness (e.g., in the area of fixation) is normal initially and will gradually subside.
