A brighter, refreshed appearance. Subtle, refined tightening.

Over time, the eyebrows naturally droop, most often affecting the outer third. This can make the eyes appear tired and cause the upper eyelid skin to look heavier. A brow lift addresses this drooping while maintaining a natural, balanced appearance.

The technique used depends on which part of the brow is affected. For lateral (outer) drooping, hidden incisions are made along the hairline. If the medial (inner) brow is also involved, an endoscopic approach may be recommended, allowing the brows to be gently released, repositioned, and often secured using a resorbable fixation system.

The goal is a refreshed, rested eye area—not a permanently “surprised” look. Depending on your desired results, a brow lift can be combined with upper eyelid surgery and/or skin-enhancing treatments.

Brow lift: Surgical correction vs. cosmetic styling

A medical brow lift is a surgical procedure to permanently raise the eyebrow position by correcting the underlying muscles and skin. In contrast, a cosmetic brow lift (lamination) is merely a temporary hairstyling treatment that fixes the structure of the brow hairs for a few weeks. While cosmetic treatments only alter the appearance of the hairs, surgery corrects the anatomical cause of a tired look or drooping brows.

Procedure of the surgical brow lift

INITIAL SURGICAL CONSULTATION

You and your surgeon will discuss your goals and jointly assess your brow height, forehead activity, skin quality, and upper eyelid skin. We will show you the anticipated lift in the mirror, explain the possible techniques (indirect via the hairline vs. direct near the brow), and clarify the incision procedure, aftercare, and realistic results. Together, we will determine whether combining the procedure with an upper eyelid lift is advisable.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

1) Indirect brow lift (access points in the hair / hairline)

  • Gliding Browlift (temporal/lateral): Targeted lifting of primarily the outer part of the brow via small incisions hidden in the hairline or hair-bearing areas.
  • Endoscopic brow lift (medial/central): Minimally invasive procedure performed through small incisions at the hairline. The structures are detached, repositioned, and often stabilized with absorbable fixation .

2) Direct brow lift (cut close to the brow)

  • Direct brow lift: Incision made directly above the brow – particularly precise in cases of pronounced ptosis. The scar is located close to the brow and is individually assessed depending on skin and wrinkle structure.

Regardless of the method used, the deeper supporting structures are gently released, repositioned, and securely fixed. The skin is closed with minimal tension. We individually adjust the brow shape and lifting vector to ensure that facial expressions and features remain natural.

AFTER THE SURGERY

You will leave the clinic on the same day or after a short observation period. For the first 72 hours, apply cold compresses regularly and keep your head elevated. Depending on the dressing, you may gently wash your hair frequently after 24–48 hours. We usually remove sutures after 10–14 days. Mild residual swelling or tenderness (e.g., in the area of fixation) is normal initially and will gradually subside.
