Eyelid lift: for a brighter, more awake appearance

As we age, the skin on the upper eyelids loses elasticity, and excess skin can make the eyes appear heavy and tired. During an upper eyelid lift, excess skin is carefully removed and, if needed, small amounts of fat. The incision is placed along the natural crease of the eyelid and closed with fine sutures, ensuring that the resulting scar is barely noticeable later on.

The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia with light sedation. You can return home the same day and will receive a clear aftercare plan to help minimise swelling and ensure a smooth recovery.

Procedure for upper eyelid lift

INITIAL SURGICAL CONSULTATION

During the comprehensive initial consultation, we will discuss your wishes, assess excess skin and eyelid shape, and clarify any potential functional aspects. We will explain the technique, aftercare, and realistically achievable results.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

On the day of the surgery, we mark the natural eyelid crease, numb the area locally, and remove excess skin and – if appropriate – small fat deposits. We then close the skin with fine sutures to achieve the least visible scar possible.

AFTER THE SURGERY

You can leave the clinic the same day after a short monitoring period. At home, regularly cool the eye area for the first 24 to 48 hours and keep your head elevated. The stitches will be removed after 5 to 7 days. This is not painful, as we use a continuous suture. Light activities are possible again soon; however, you should refrain from your usual sports routine or strenuous activity for about two weeks.
